Matevulu Lodge

For those seeking authenticity and tranquility, Matevulu Lodge is perfectly situated on the breathtaking East Coast of Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu.

Our Bed & Breakfast features four beachfront bungalows designed for comfort and modern convenience. Each bungalow boasts charming island decor, ocean-view bathrooms, and wooden terraces just steps from the beach, shaded by ancient Tamanu trees. Equipped with mini-fridges, kettles, and coffee plungers, our accommodations ensure privacy and intimacy. We also offer a spacious family room ideal for groups, and the option to privatize the entire lodge for up to 14 guests.

Your stay includes a complimentary continental breakfast featuring delicious homemade jams. For lunch and dinner, guests can enjoy our spacious main Fare, which includes a fully equipped kitchen and beachfront deck. Please note that we recommend bringing your own food supplies from town, as the local area has only a small Sunday market. We are just a 20-minute drive from town, and if you prefer not to cook, there are two restaurants within a five-minute drive, along with a catering service that delivers to the lodge (48-hour advance notice required; closed on weekends—ask us for the menu).

Additionally, we provide complimentary Wi-Fi and access to water equipment such as kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear. Matevulu Lodge is uniquely located between Riri and Matevulu Blueholes, both accessible via a leisurely half-hour walk or kayak ride along the pristine river, all under a lush canopy. Explore the bay, snorkel the vibrant reefs, take a boat trip to nearby islands, or enjoy surfing. And for ultimate relaxation, why not float down the Riri River back to the lodge for a well-deserved nap in a hammock? Here, you can choose to do as much or as little as you like.

Your reservation includes a complimentary continental breakfast, crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients to support the community. Served in the main Fare kitchen from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, our breakfast features a delightful selection of tea, coffee, fruit juice, fresh fruits, homemade jams, butter, and toasted bread.

💳 How to Book

To secure your stay, we’ll ask for your credit card details. Once your dates are confirmed, we’ll send an invoice and a form to fill out. Your booking is only confirmed once we get the completed form back. We require a minimum of 2 nights.

💰 Payments

  • Full payment is charged 45 or 60 days before arrival
  • A 3.1% card fee applies to all payments

Cancellation Policy

Standard Cancellation Policy

  • Free cancellation up to 45 days before arrival
  • 50% refund if cancelled 45–30 days before
  • No refund if cancelled less than 30 days before arrival or for no-shows

📝 Group & Long Stay Cancellation (2+ bungalows or 10+ nights) 

  • Free cancellation up to 60 days before arrival
  • 50% refund if cancelled 60–45 days before
  • No refund if cancelled less than 45 days before arrival

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your plans in case of flight cancellations, illness, or other disruptions. We’re happy to assist with documentation for insurance claims.

Airport pick-up

We can arrange for a taxi to pick you up at Santo Airport, with a brief stop in town for groceries before heading to the Lodge. Alternatively, we can assist you in finding a rental car for your convenience.

Check-in and Check-out

Check-in is available after 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 10:00 AM. We’re happy to accommodate early check-in or late check-out upon request. If you have a late departure flight, we can also store your luggage after check-out for your convenience.

Compliance

To ensure the safety of our guests, we follow the COVID-19 workplace safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and we are compliant with the Safety Business Operations (SBO) Program of the Ministry of Tourism by being “Triple C Certified” standing for “Clean, Caring and Checked”.

Safety Measures

Hand sanitizing stations are made available in the Lodge. The Communal areas/kitchen are cleaned everyday. Every bungalow will have its own set of dishes to minimize shared equipment.
